Word of the week
Filter it!
Proverbs 21:23 NKJV
Whoso keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles
“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.”
Don’t just talk anyhow. Filter what you say
So that your soul will be free of troubles.
If your soul has troubles your health and your life will be troubled
Don’t just talk anyhow
Let your mind be like a factory
A factory is known for production
And production involves processing.
Process everything going into your mind.
Filter what is unwholesome and keep only the wholesome
Examine what is going on in your mind
When your words wound and hurt people constantly, you are asking for trouble
When you see someone that is not afraid to talk to anybody, whether young or old, you are looking at someone that will soon be pursued by troubles
So, my advice today is ‘filter it’
The extent of your filter is the extent of your spiritual and emotional maturity
The extent of your filter is the extent to which your life will be peaceful
Less filter, less peace
More filter, more peace
Filter it!
Message of the week
Selfishness destroys posterity
Isaiah 39:8 NKJV
“So Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good!” For he said, “At least there will be peace and truth in my days.””
Some years ago, a lady told my husband a very interesting story.
She was out and about and spotted her husband in an eatery eating meat pies, scotch eggs and other nice goodies.
Apparently that was how the man was find of taking care of himself in eateries without bringing anything home for his wife and children
There is this story in Isaiah 39.
Hezekiah was sick and later became well.
The king of Babylon sent ambassadors to him to send him good wishes after he had recovered.
Hezekiah decided to use that opportunity to show off to the king of Babylon all the wealth God had given him.
As a result the prophet Isaiah came to him. He asked Hezekiah, ‘who are these men that came to see you and what did you show them?’
Hezekiah answered, ‘they came from Babylon and I showed them everything in my house
Hezekiah got a message that some evil events were going to happen to his descendants. He was least concerned.
He said to the prophet that gave him the message, ‘what you have said to me is good!’
His children were going to come into evil circumstances and yet this man could not be bothered
This was the same man that cried to God when a sentence of death was pronounced against him and God overruled himself
Hezekiah was so selfish, he didn’t care what would happen after him
The Bible says a righteous man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, not just his children alone.
Hezekiah’s foolishness had jeopardised his descendants
Because of him, young men like Daniel, Shadrach Meshack and Abednego were taken to Babylon and turned into eunuchs
Father, mother, be careful of your actions today so you don’t create problems for your children tomorrow
Hezekiah said I showed them everything. In fact there’s nothing in my house and kingdom that I didn’t show them
What a foolish thing to do
Before you crucify Hezekiah, why don’t you examine yourself. Do you too show everything?
Don’t show people everything.
Don’t put all your photos out on social media
Don’t give everyone a blow by blow account of your holiday
Keep some things back for your private consumption.
I pray that our actions will safeguard our families and not put them in trouble in Jesus Name
