Week 29-2022- Word and Message of The Week

Word of the week

The link between truth and wisdom

Psalm 51:6 NKJV

“Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”

Last week, we spoke about the link between mercy and truth.

Today we will talk about the link between truth and wisdom.

Some time ago, I was having a conversation with a senior friend of mine about how supposed Christians tell bare faced lies nowadays.

Lying in the body of Christ is almost getting to pandemic levels.

You can hardly trust anyone.

Many people don’t trust their colleagues, some friends and family members.

They come to the church and unfortunately they meet the same scenario.

In the place of righteousness are people telling big lies.

What many people don’t understand is that to access the wisdom of God, you have to be someone that tells the truth.

To access the wisdom of God, you need to be a person that tells the truth to others and yourself.

God says He desires truth in the inward parts.

And when God sees the truth inside you, He will make you to access His divine wisdom

God knows our frailties, yet He still desires the truth

The biblical King David was the one that wrote the text we read today.

He was a great man, but he made great mistakes.

Notwithstanding God gave him the wisdom to write most of the Psalms because he was someone that spoke the truth in his heart.

Why do we need wisdom?

There are many answers to that question.

One of the answers can be found in Ecclesiastes 8:1 which says a man’s wisdom makes his face to shine.

Wisdom promotes, wisdom highlights, wisdom elevates.

You are probably saying ‘I know some people doing very well that are liars’

That may be true, but remember the Bible says the wisdom of this world comes to nothing. You don’t yet know the end of the liars, so don’t be hasty to conclude that lying pays

My encouragement today is don’t let little lies be the tentacles that pull you down in the journey of life.

Tell the truth and walk in the genuine wisdom of God

Message of the week

You will not be cheated

1 Samuel 16:11-12 NLT

“Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.” So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. And the Lord said, “This is the one; anoint him.””

The story of David

His own father betrayed him.

If not that God was on his side, he had been consigned to being the family shepherd

If God had not been for David, he would have been a back bencher for life

Meanwhile David was a hard working young man, working tirelessly for his dad.

That same dad forgot him

Samuel asked for his sons, he brought out the sons that were not working as hard as David.

What injustice. What betrayal.

From his own father no less

Sometimes I just wonder Is there anything new in this world?

Nothing.

If David’s own dad could look down on him, why do you feel bad that people look down on you

If David’s own dad thought he wasn’t worthy to be a king, why do you feel bad when you are overlooked by people and they even call you a nonentity

What David’s dad did was a betrayal. A betrayal of fatherhood.

He forgot to be a father when it came to David

But the story of David makes one to see that God is the Overseer of the events of life.

He will not allow you to be cheated

People may look down on you, they may think you are not worthy, they may betray you but God will fight for you and defend you from the attempts they make against you to cheat you and keep you down.

No wonder Jesus said the stone that the builders rejected has become the head of the corner

That was what happened to David.

That man that was overlooked was now the one that took care of the entire family when Saul was bent on destroying David and all that pertains to him
