Week 22-2022- Word and Message of The Week

Word of the week

Drop it!

Hebrews 12:1 NLT

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”

As Christians, we are compared to athletes. The journey of our life is compared to a race.

There are different types of races:

  1. Sprint – the type Usain bolt does
  2. 200m
  3. 400m
  4. You get the idea, right
  5. And the mother of them all is the marathon.

Of course, many of us want the journeys of our lives to be compared to a marathon because a marathon suggests longevity.

Now, if you want to live a long life filled with God’s goodness, there are some things you must do and there are some things you must avoid doing.

Psalm 34:12-14 NLT says:

“Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”

Many people think the peacemaker and the peace lover is a weakling.

Far from it. The peacemaker is a strong individual that knows that his or her blessings come because of peace, so they avoid strife at all costs. Even at the cost of looking like a weakling.

To have a meaningful, long and prosperous life, drop anger, drop lies, drop conflict, strife, evil, envy, jealousy, evil speaking and all negativity.

They are weights that will hinder your progress in life.

You don’t want to be bogged down with weights and have a very slow journey because of unnecessary weights

Just drop the weights. People will think you are a fool.

But the fact that someone thinks I’m a fool doesn’t mean I’m a fool.

What God is saying about you and I is what matters.

Just drop the weights and it will be well with you in Jesus Name.

Message of the week

People talk

Ruth 2:10-13 AMPC

“Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favor in your eyes that you should notice me, when I am a foreigner? And Boaz said to her, I have been made fully aware of all you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and mother and the land of your birth and have come to a people unknown to you before. The Lord recompense you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under Whose wings you have come to take refuge! Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my Lord. For you have comforted me and have spoken to the heart of your maidservant, though I am not as one of your maidservants.”

This conversation recorded in the Scriptures happened between Ruth and Boaz. Ruth was a Moabite who left her native land after the death of her husband to take care of her mother in law who had lost her husband and her two sons.

Boaz was a wealthy land owner, farmer and business man, who told Ruth, ‘I’ve heard about you. I’ve heard about how kind you’ve been to your mother in law.’

This brings us to the topic of today, ‘People talk’

Because people talk, you need to:

Mind your conduct

Mind your attitude

Mind your words

Mind your company

Human beings are like water, flowing into one another

There is someone that knows somebody you know

Ruth had compassion on her mother in law, Naomi and returned with her to Bethlehem when she had lost all.

Any type of behaviour you exhibit will be broadcast by others.

There is no hiding place in this life, so it’s better you make sure that what you are doing is good.

People took note of Ruth’s kindness

Boaz heard of her kindness

When the time came, Boaz chose to marry Ruth above all the women in Bethlehem.

Boaz could have chosen anyone. He was a very wealthy man, so he had many options.

But he chose Ruth. Because Ruth was kind

With a kind person, you will always be safe.

They may not be perfect, but a kind person will not hurt you deliberately.

Mind your manners in public

Mind your manners in private.

In Ecclesiastes 10:20, the Bible talks about a little bird of the air that discloses private conversations.

I would assume that is the Holy Spirit

There is an adage that says ‘walls have ears’.

That means there is no secret in this life.

People talk, so mind your conduct and mind what you say.

I pray that you have a good week.

God bless you
