Word of the week
Your tongue can build
Proverbs 31:26 NKJV
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.”
A few weeks ago, I was leaving Bluewater, a shopping mall here in the UK. In front of me was a lady in her early thirties carrying a baby on her hip. The baby was probably 6-9 months old.
Now, l love babies, so I always notice them. What I observed about this baby was that she was happy. Her eyes were bright and sharp and she couldn’t stop smiling. The happiness in that baby was making me happy. As she was smiling, I was smiling too.
So, I thought to myself, hang on, this baby is making you happy. Why don’t you walk up to the mother and compliment her for doing a good job of taking care of her child.
So, I walked up to the lady and told her that her baby looks so happy and I said to her ‘well done’. The lady smiled and went her way.
One of the ways to use your tongue to build is to compliment people.
What does it cost you to recognise someone’s efforts and compliment them? Nothing
In 1 Samuel 25, we see a horrible man called Nabal who thought nothing of belittling others. He directed bitter words at David. David was enraged by the bitter comments that Nabal directed to him and he was bent on wiping out the entire household of Nabal.
Abigail, Nabal’s wife however used her tongue wisely to redirect David from the error of revenge.
You can use your tongue to build by praying for people
Your tongue can comfort
Your tongue can heal
Your tongue can bless
All of these cost nothing.
In fact you will be blessed when you tongue builds, heals and comforts
May God direct us to always use our tongues wisely in Jesus Name
Message of the week
You’re looking at the wrong time
Psalm 31:15 AMPC
“My times are in Your hands; deliver me from the hands of my foes and those who pursue me and persecute me.”
Recently we had a time change in the UK. Previously, we were one hour behind West Africa. Our time now became aligned. We are now the same time as West Africa.
The only device that aligned automatically to this new time was my iPhone and iPad
There were many devices that didn’t align. My wall clocks at home, the clock in my car.
So, if you look at my wall clock you will be getting a different time from the real time
Also the whole world has different time zones. For example, the United States of America has several time zones. Midnight in California does not mean midnight in New York
But this is what happens to some of us. We are putting ourselves in other people’s time zones. We are using many things to measure our lives. We all know time is a unit of measurement, so we tend to judge our progress by what we have achieved within a particular time frame. We also tend to judge our progress by the progress of our family, friends and peers
We think oh, I should be married latest by 30. I should finish having children by 35. I should be a managing director by 40. I should have built a house by 40 etc etc
All these are good goals and God is capable of achieving them.
But what if you fall short of these goals? Does it mean you are a failure? Does it mean God has forgotten you?
God wants us to approach Him in faith and trust Him that His timing is good
That was what happened to David
Anointed king as a teenager, David did not get to the throne till he was 30. And that was the throne of Judah. It took him another 7 and half years to reign over all Israel.
Yet David kept on praising and trusting God.
I want to encourage you not to look at the wrong time because the right time is God’s time.
The enemy may bring delay. I understand that. Many of us have been through so many delays in life. But because God is in control, God will make the delay to work for your good.
Let us all learn to ignore the measures of time used by us and the society. Let us focus on God and He will bring to pass our hearts’ desires in His own time.
I pray that you have a good week
God bless you. Amen
