Word of the week
Isaiah 7:1 AMPC
IN THE days of Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but they could not conquer it.
The AMPC version says, ‘but they could not conquer it’
The NLT says, ‘however they were unable to carry out their plan’
The New International Version says, ‘but they could not overpower it’
Wars can be disconcerting at best and terrifying at the worst.
Nobody likes wars.
The only people that like wars are the people profiting from wars.
When there is a war, there are companies that win contracts to supply ammunition, security and catering for the soldiers at war.
So those companies will not mind the prolongation of wars.
But normal, right thinking people that don’t have anything to benefit don’t like wars.
Wars are messy and unpleasant to go through. There is chaos, devastation, famine, death etc
Sometimes in families there are wars, sometimes in relationships there are wars.
When there is a war between a husband and a wife for instance, you can be sure that there is someone out there are people profiting from that war.
God wants you and I to know that though a war rose up against you, it doesn’t mean you will be defeated and your enemies will be victorious.
No matter how brutal a war is, there will still be survivors.
Think about the wars in Syria, Iraq, etc. there were survivors.
The king of Syria and the king of Israel waged war against the king of Judah, but God spoke that they will not succeed and they didn’t succeed.
Psalm 46:9 KJV says God maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth.
David said in Psalm 27:3 that though war rose against him there are some things he knew that give him the confidence of victory .
David had fought so many wars. He knew that the fact that war arises against a person doesn’t mean the person will be consumed by the war.
I pray that God will cause every wars we are experiencing to cease right now in Jesus Name.
I pray that God will continually give us victory over every wars and adversarial situations in Jesus Name
Message of the week
Genesis 41:14,41-44 AMPC
“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. But Joseph [first] shaved himself, changed his clothes, and made himself presentable; then he came into Pharaoh’s presence.”
“Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his [signet] ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in [official] vestments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck; He made him to ride in the second chariot which he had, and [officials] cried before him, Bow the knee! And he set him over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
I often wonder what was going on in the mind of Joseph when he was brought hastily out of prison to see Pharaoh. Joseph had requested that the chief butler remember him and he finally did 2 years after!
In my thinking, Joseph knew his day of pardon had come.
He probably thought ok, now I’ve been pardoned. I will now proceed to get on with my life that was interrupted by human trafficking, slavery, false accusation and imprisonment and injustice.
Joseph was probably thinking of starting work as a labourer and from there he will work for some years, have his own business and then become great like he had dreamt in his teenage years.
Joseph never saw what was coming to him the day he was released from prison!
He interpreted a dream for Pharaoh, that’s all and he became prime minister!
He became second in command in Egypt with excellent honour and majesty added to him!
I pray for you and myself that this year and this season, the Almighty God will exceed all your expectations and give you great all round victory in Jesus Name
