Word of the week
Wars will cease
Psalm 46:9 AMPC
“He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow into pieces and snaps the spear in two; He burns the chariots in the fire.”
Last week, I did a broadcast’ Wiser than your enemies’. In this broadcast, I spoke about how enmity will not stop
But this week, I’m speaking on a topic which says ‘wars will cease’.
At this point, you are probably thinking that I’m contradicting myself
No I’m not.
The presence of enmity does not mean the presence of warfare.
You can hate someone but be powerless to harm them.
God is able to disarm our enemies so that they will not be able to engage us in warfare even if they want to.
Remember Sennacherib in 2 Kings 19. He threatened Hezekiah and the children of Judah.
He assembled a war machine against them. God was watching and observing all his efforts and plans
One night, one angel of God, just one, killed 185,000 soldiers in Sennacherib’s army
Sennacherib himself was later killed by 2 of his sons.
Remember Psalm 23 where God says He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies
It is true enmity will not stop
But it is equally true the warfare will cease.
God has assured us in His Word that He will make wars against us to cease.
I pray that every instrument of warfare against you and I will be destroyed by the Almighty God in Jesus Name
Message of the week
Too much at stake
Romans 8:6 KJV
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
Romans 8:6 GNT
“To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.”
There are times you won’t do what your natural man, that is your human nature wants you to do
Someone has hurt you. You want to revenge, you want to talk back, you want to fight for your right.
But God says no.
It can be hard.
In the book of Genesis, Joseph was in a position to deal harshly with his brothers. He was second in command to Pharaoh
He could have tormented and punished his brothers for the evil they did to him.
But at what cost?
Unknown to us, people are watching us.
They want to see how you react to injustices and insults
They want to use your response to judge your character
And your response IS the judge of your character
Believe it or not, Pharaoh was watching Joseph
He knew Joseph to be a righteous man. Pharaoh and his house were keen to see how Joseph will treat his brothers.
Joseph did not disappoint
Joseph’s response to the injustices he faced made him prosperous all his life
I want to encourage you and myself that there’s too much at stake.
There’s too much at stake, we can’t afford distractions
All the petty stuff that come against us are distractions
There are many things you and I are believing God for. We have goals and aspirations
But there are some people that their aim in life is to make you forget your goals and aspirations
They want to bring unnecessary drama into your life.
They want you to forget your goals and plans and focus on their continuous drama.
You can’t afford to focus on them
You can’t afford to be carnally minded
You can’t afford to have a low mentality of ‘you do me, I do you’
It’s difficult, but you must always strive to take the high road of forgiveness, courtesy and decent behaviour no matter who does otherwise.
Michelle Obama the former FLOTUS said ‘when they go low, we go high’.
Let’s all learn from that
When they go low and you go low to fight them, all of you stay low
But when they go low and you choose to take the high road of forgiveness, courtesy and decent behaviour, they will remain low while you keep going higher
It’s not easy to do, but I pray that God will give all of us the grace to do this in Jesus Name
