Word of the week
Matthew 4:1-3 NLT
“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.””
I always say that the first temptation Jesus faced was not turning stones to bread.
You are probably saying ah ah Ola, you are taking this too far.
No I’m not taking anything too far.
That scripture says ‘if you are the son of God…
The first temptation Jesus ever faced was the identity temptation
It will happen to all of us.
Self doubt.
Self doubt is limiting
If unchecked, self doubt will prevent one from reaching one’s goals
Your identity will be questioned again and again
What you stand for will be questioned again and again.
Especially in this social media age.
So, please be ready for your answer when the time comes.
People are on twitter, instagram, Facebook etc questioning the identity of great men like Daddy EA Adeboye, Pastor Oyedepo. They are calling them terrible names and questioning their motives in serving God.
You too will likely face the same issue.
The Pharisees did it to Jesus.
They questioned the motives of Jesus.
They said Jesus was casting our devils by Beelzebub, the pagan lord of the flies.
Notwithstanding Jesus prevailed.
I pray for you and myself that God will make us secure in our identity in Christ in Jesus Name.
Message of the week
Ruth 2:10-13 AMPC
“Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favor in your eyes that you should notice me, when I am a foreigner? And Boaz said to her, I have been made fully aware of all you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and mother and the land of your birth and have come to a people unknown to you before. The Lord recompense you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under Whose wings you have come to take refuge! Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my Lord. For you have comforted me and have spoken to the heart of your maidservant, though I am not as one of your maidservants.”
Mind your conduct
Mind your attitude
Mind your words
Mind your company
Because people talk.
Human beings are like water, flowing into one another
There is someone that knows somebody you know
Ruth had compassion on her mother in law, Naomi and returned with her to Bethlehem when she had lost all.
Any type of behaviour you exhibit will be broadcast by others.
There is no hiding place in this life, so it’s better you make sure that what you are doing is good.
People took note of Ruth’s kindness
Boaz heard of her kindness
When the time came, Boaz chose to marry Ruth above all the women in Bethlehem.
Boaz could have chosen anyone
But he chose Ruth. Because Ruth was kind
With a kind person, you will always be safe.
They may not be perfect, but a kind person will not hurt you deliberately.
Mind your manners in public
Mind your manners in private.
In Ecclesiastes 10:20, the Bible talks about a little bird of the air that discloses private conversations.
I would assume that is the Holy Spirit
There is an adage spoken by the Yoruba people of Nigeria and that adage says ‘walls have ears’.
That means there is no secret in this life.
People talk, so mind your conduct and mind what you say
