Word of the week
Ecclesiastes 9:4 KJV, ‘For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope.’
So many events delayed and deferred because of the pandemic. Dubai Expo 2020, Olympics 2020, Euro 2020
But when you are alive, there is hope. What is delayed will happen with God on your side.
And like the Scriptures say in Habbakuk 2:3 that the vision may tarry but it will come.
Don’t give up because things are being delayed for you. Don’t succumb to depression. Your time will come. I pray that you have a good week. God bless you.
Message of the week
Genesis 49:3-4 KJV says, ‘Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; BECAUSE (emphasis mine) thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.’
Jacob said, ‘Reuben, you shall not excel in life ‘because’.
In life, there is a ‘because’. That is, there is a reason.
So we don’t accuse God of arbitrariness and favouritism, in life, some things happen ‘because’.
This indicates that we bear personal responsibility for some of the things that happen to us.
Some things don’t just happen. They happen ‘BECAUSE’.
Be careful of your ‘BECAUSE’
Reuben did something abominable to his father Jacob. He slept with his father’s wife BECAUSE he could. Reuben had such audacity, such impunity that he did it. He did not think of the consequences.
There were many women in the land, but it was the forbidden one, his father’s wife, that attracted Reuben.
Some people love the forbidden. The forbidden excites them. They forget that there is a reason why it is forbidden. They presume to be wiser than others.
Such was the case of the biblical Samson and even Reuben, the focus of today’s topic.
Hosea 8:7a NLT says, ‘They have planted the wind and will harvest the whirlwind.’
There will always be consequences for your actions, whether good or bad.
If you do it BECAUSE you can do it, then something will happen to you BECAUSE you did it.
On the flip side, Joseph got a lot of blessings from his father Jacob, BECAUSE (that word again, BECAUSE)…Joseph got a lot of blessings from his father Jacob because Joseph never troubled his father, NOT for one day. When I look through the book of Genesis that gives an account of Jacob and his sons, you will not see a single instance where Jacob hurt his father.
There will always be a BECAUSE.
I pray that you have a good week. God bless you.
